ABSTRACT
In the last half century, artificial intelligence has been used to model human language in workplace.
Scientist had to deal with the complexity of human language in terms of comprehension and generation.
The study examines the effect of artificial intelligence on employees’ performance of selected deposit
money banks in Lagos State, Nigeria. The specific objectives are to: determine the effect of Chabot
system adoption on employees’ performance of systematically important banks in Lagos, Nigeria and to
assess the effect of automation system on employees’ commitment of systematically important banks in
Lagos, Nigeria. The study used cross-sectional survey design. The population of the study was 26,031
employees of some selected DMBs in Nigeria as at 31 December 2023. The study used Krejcie and
Morgan (1970) sample size determination formula to determine the sample size of 379 bank employees.
The study used multiple regression analysis to analyse the formulated hypotheses. The findings of the
study were that: chatbot system has significant effect on employees’ operational performance (task
oriented chatbot) t = 2.235, p = 0.000, ? = 0.068, (voice oriented chatbot) t = 2.815, p = 0.001, ? = 0.132,
(information oriented chatbot) t = -0.514 p = 0.608, ? = -0.199; automation system has a significant effect
on work processing operations (programmed automation system) t = 2.852, p = 0.003, ? = 0.079,
(integrated automation system) t = 12.402, p = 0.000, ? = 0.562, (flexible automation system) t = 8.848,
p = 0.000, ? = 0.402.The study concluded that chabot system adoption and robotic advisory system
adoption are underlying factors that determine the employees’ operational performance. The study
recommended that the banks should develop more automation system (programmed automated system,
integrated automated system and flexible automated system) for easy work processing operations.
