GLOBALIZATION AND THE PERFORMANCE OF SELECTED SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES IN NORTH CENTRAL GEO-POLITICAL ZONE OF NIGERIA
ABSTRACT
This study investigated the effect of globalization on the performance of selected small and medium
enterprises (SMEs) in North Central Nigeria, the study focused on SMEs across three selected states in
the region, namely, Abuja, Kogi, Nassarawa totaling two million, twenty four thousand seven hundred
and seventy eight (2,024,778) according to SMEDAN (2020).Consequently, sample size of 399 was
determined using the Slovins sampling technique. The research findings affirm a substantial significant
and positive (p .000< 0.05) relationship between global technological integration and the performance
of SMEs in North Central Nigeria. Global supply chain has significant and positive (p.000< 0.05)
relationship with the performance of SMEs in North Central Nigeria. The research concluded that the
performance of SMEs in North Central Nigeria is significantly influenced by globalization. As a
recommendation, SMEs in north central Nigeria should prioritize the adoption and integration of global
technological advancements. It was also recommended that SMEs should be encouraged to
strategically optimize their global supply chain processes.
