HUMAN RESOURCE PRACTICES AND ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE OF DANGOTE CEMENT COMPANY OBAJANA, KOGI STATE
ABSTRACT
This study examined the impact of human resource practices on the organizational performance of Dangote Cement, Obajana, Kogi State, Nigeria, with specific focus on recruitment and selection practices, and training and development. A survey research design was adopted, and structured questionnaires were used to collect primary data from employees. The population was approximately 2,500 staff, from which a sample of 344 respondents was determined using the Taro Yamane formula. A total of 330 valid questionnaires were retrieved, representing a 95.9% response rate. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, reliability tests, and multiple regression analysis to examine the relationship between the selected HR practices and organizational performance. The findings revealed that both recruitment and selection practices, as well as training and development, have statistically significant positive effects on organizational performance. The study concluded that effective HR practices are key drivers of productivity and efficiency in the cement manufacturing sector. It therefore recommends continuous improvement in recruitment processes and sustained investment in employee training and development to enhance performance and maintain competitive advantage.
